China Shipping Industry Will Expand Tank Coating Capability by Taking Tank Coating Project for newly-built Aframax Type Tanker

Tank coating for oil tanker is one of the competitiveness of China Shipping Industry. Shanghai Feng Da Coating Engineering Co., Ltd. (Feng Da), held and managed by China Shipping Industry, has won a high reputation among the tanker owners worldwide and takes competitive advantages in tank coating technology, quality, service and duration, etc.. Recently One project is in progress by China Shipping Industry in an aim to assist Feng Da to complete tank coating works of 56,000 sq.m. for newly-built Aframax type tanker within a period of 35 days through co-operation with facilities supplier. The project includes reforming one quay in Shanghai Port especially for tank coating works. That quay could accommodate 240 mtr. long Aframax type tanker,equipped with several 20t.capacity quay cranes and one 4000 KVA power station. China Shipping Industry intends to reach the target before September, 2002. By the time China Shipping Industry would have got more than half of tank coating facilities and equipments for above mentioned works

Re-organization of Shanghai GD Chang Xing Marine Engineering Co., Ltd. by China Shipping Industry Co., Ltd.

China Shipping Industry Co., Ltd. has officially taken over Shanghai GD Chang Xing Marine Engineering Co., Ltd. (hereafter named GD Chang Xing) upon previous negotiations & re-structuring. GD Chang Xing is geographically located at the South bank of Chang Xing Island, Shanghai, 31 degrees north latitude and 121 degrees east longit-ude, 7.5 km from Shanghai Pudong area which is at the other bank of Huang Pu River, and 30 nautical miles from the estuary of Yangtse Rive on western of the East ChinaSea where is the Shanghai port entry. T. It's the hub of the Yangtze Delta.

GD Chang Xing was firstly constructed in the year of 1997 and at the April of 1999 it was formally put into service. After property restructuring it officially joined in China Shipping Group at the beginning of 2003. As its owner and major investor, China Shipping Industry Co., Ltd. (hereafter named China Shipping Industry) leaded reform and reorganization in GD Chang Xing's management and administration. At present, the reorganization and restructuring is completed, GD Chang Xing has become a legal entity of joint venture capable of providing ship-repairing services to ship-owners. The 70,000 tonnage floating dock "China Shipping Pu Tuo Shan" is under the management of GD Chang Xing. At the same time, total six ship-repairing docks in China Shipping Industry's three Shanghai shipyards give full supports to GD Chang Xing's ship-repairing business besides well serving their own shipyards. Depending on resources of China Shipping Group especially brand resource and advantaged management and technology in China Shipping Industry, GD Chang Xing is able to provide high quality services to ship-owners. The shiprepairing wharf of GD Chang Xing has water depth of minus 10 to minus 16 meters (excluding tide) and river area of 1000 meters, VLCC of 340 meters in length can turn around on-site. It has privileged location and appropriate water depth, the actually used water-front is 3000 meters, and a 400 meters ship-repairing wharf for 200,000 tonnage vessel has already put into service. The floating dock "China Shipping Pu Tuo Shan" has lifting capacity of 22,000 ton. The water conditions in GD Chang Xing are also ideal for servicing ocean engineering such as conversion of drilling platform and FPSO other than repairing large vessels.

Upon the take-over of GD Chang Xing, China Shipping Industry will further expand its scale and capability timely. The strategic goal of China Shipping Group is to re-construct it to a first grade large ship-repairing base in five years as stated in China Shipping 10th "Five Year Planning".
